Privacy in British Columbia

As of January 1, 2004, British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (BC PIPA) legislates how organizations operating in British Columbia collect, use and disclose customer and employee personal information.

BC PIPA is Substantially Similar to PIPEDA and thus PIPEDA only applies to personal information that crosses BC's provincial or federal borders and to Federal works.
