Privacy in Alberta
Jurisdiction
As of January 1, 2004, Alberta's Personal Information
Protection Act (AB PIPA) legislates how organizations
operating in Alberta collect, use and disclose customer
and employee privacy.
AB PIPA is Substantially
Similar to PIPEDA and therefore PIPEDA only applies
to personal information that crosses AB's provincial
or Federal borders and to Federal
works.
