Over the past few years Mexico, under the guidance of the Ministry of Economy, Mexico has set about updating its data protection laws to ensure that it is ready to fully engage in the digital economy. This is not an easy task. The challenges exist within Mexico and globally to create a data protection regulatory environment for Mexico that will foster the growth of the digital IT industry in Mexico. The Ministry of Economy has taken the lead and now it is time to share that lead with IFAI and others in Mexico to bring this journey to its destination.
